  1. In January those of us who took a day of action will see a reduced pay packet and hope that the new year negotiations are worthy of this. We will be left to contemplate how effective our Day of action was. As a social worker Who uses ones own car on work place activities I see my daily milage allowance reduced considerably in real time, due to both insurance and daily running cost increases such as diesel and maintenance costs, coupled with local authorities lack of free parking assistance.

    Surely we need to work to rule, use public transport and be very clear of a safe case load level reduction as using our own transport greatly increases our ability to work more cases in our core hours. In my view, this will cause minimum disruption to ourselves but make senior managers and government realise they have taken our good will for granted for far too long. A fight wherevwe are not hit directly in our pockets can only prolong our ability to sustain it.
